 Texas woman charged with medical child abuse for falsifying toddler’s health and pushing unnecessary feeding tube surgeries A Texas woman has been charged with medical child abuse after allegedly falsifying her toddler’s medical history to pressure doctors into performing unnecessary procedures, including feeding tube surgeries, in what authorities are calling a “sickening” case. Kaitlyn Rose Laura, 31, faces charges of injury to a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Officials said she deliberately misled medical staff about her 3-year-old son’s health to obtain a gastrostomy tube and later a gastrojejunostomy tube, despite no documented medical need. Investigators allege that hospital staff observed the boy eating normally while Laura claimed he refused all food. Covert surveillance confirmed the child was able to eat meals without difficulty, prompting authorities to stop tube feedings. Abia State Police Command Apprehends Suspects for Conspiracy Gunrunning Unlawful Possession of Firearms and Attempted Murder: Recovers Firearms

1.Kalu Ugwa Ogbonnaya, male, 54 years


2.Agu Ugochukwu, male, 39 years


3.Ukandu Leach, male, 43 years

3.Seventy-six (76) rounds of live cartridges


4.Locally made double-barrelled gun


1. Leveraging on actionable intelligence, detectives from the Central Police Station, Umuahia, on 17/10/2025, apprehended Kalu Ugwa Ogbonnaya male, 54 years in connection with a cargo consignment with Waybill No: HN-INT-7320Do-FDY-U. 


2.The consignment contained twenty six (26) live cartridge and another carton containing a pump action gun with Breech No: MY1183234.

Further search of the consignment led to the recovery of one Mossberg 930 pump action with Breech No: AFO44698 and fifty (50) rounds of live cartridges, all of which were to be received by the suspect.


3. During interrogation, the suspect confessed that the consignment was to be received from him by Agu Ugochukwu male 39 years, who has  been apprehended. He further stated that Agu was to receive the consignment on behalf of another suspect residing in the United States. 


4. ⁠The suspects are currently in custody, while investigation continues at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Umuahia.


5. In furtherance Of the Unwavering efforts of the Command in protecting lives and property and ensuring law and Oder, on 23/10/2025, in prompt response to a distress call in Aba, operatives of the Scorpion Squad apprehended Ukandu Leach male, 43 years who claimed to be a member of a vigilante group,for shooting Chukwu Emeka male, 39 years on his right leg.


 6.The victim was rushed to the hospital for medical attention and suspect apprehended while a locally made double barreled gun was recovered from him. Investigation is ongoing.


7. The Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, reiterates the Command’s commitment to sustaining its efforts against criminality in the state. He urges members of the public to continue to support the Police by reporting any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest Police Station or through the Command’s emergency contact numbers:
