Biden and Clinton commend Trump for Gaza peace agreement

Former Presidents Joe Biden and Bill Clinton praised President Donald Trump on Monday for brokering the Gaza peace deal between Israel and Hamas. Biden expressed on X that he is “deeply grateful and relieved” that Hamas had released the last 20 living hostages, while Clinton similarly said he is “grateful that a ceasefire has taken hold.” Both singled out Trump for his role in helping secure the agreement.

Biden noted that the “road to this deal was not easy,” emphasizing that his administration had worked to bring hostages home, provide relief to Palestinian civilians, and end the war. “I commend President Trump and his team for their work to get a renewed ceasefire deal over the finish line,” Biden wrote. “Now, with the backing of the United States and the world, the Middle East is on a path to peace that I hope endures, and a future for Israelis and Palestinians alike with equal measures of peace, dignity, and safety.” Clinton also credited Trump, alongside Qatar and other regional actors, for keeping all parties engaged until the agreement was finalized, calling for lasting peace in the region.

Trump, speaking to reporters Monday, said he appreciated Clinton’s comments, calling the post “very nice.” He recalled his longstanding personal relationships with both Bill and Hillary Clinton, noting they had attended his wedding. The president’s remarks highlighted the bipartisan recognition of his efforts in achieving the ceasefire, a contrast with former President Barack Obama, who last week expressed relief over the end of the conflict without mentioning Trump by name. White House officials underscored Trump’s central role by reposting Obama’s statement with the comment: “Say his name… PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP.”
