 ANAMBRA POLICE ARREST SUSPECTED DRUG DEALER, RECOVER ILLICIT DRUGS WORTH ₦5.8 MILLION IN OTUOCHA As CP Nnanna notes that illicit drugs can fuel criminality, charges officers to sustain targeted operations to nip crime in the bud The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old suspected drug dealer, identified as Chinedu Nwankwo, and recovered a large quantity of suspected Cannabis Sativa, Methamphetamine and Colorado (Colos), estimated at ₦5.8 million. The suspect was arrested in the early hours of today, 29th August 2026, by operatives of the Rapid Response Team during an intelligence-driven patrol operation along the Nteje–Otuocha Road. Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect was allegedly conveying the illicit substances to Otuocha, Anyamelium, Nzam, Umuleri and Aguleri areas for delivery to suspected criminal elements.  CHINESE GOVT. COMMENDS NIGERIA FOR RESCUE OF FOUR KIDNAP CITIZENS 


The People’s Republic of China has commended the Nigerian government for the successful rescue of four of its citizens kidnapped in Kwara State.


The rescue operation, jointly carried out by the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army, and the Police, led to the safe recovery of the Chinese nationals 


At the formal handover of the victims in Abuja, the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, represented by the Consul, Wang Jun, lauded the Nigerian security agencies, particularly the DSS, for their swift, intelligence-led response. He also commended the Service for providing first-rate medical attention to the rescued individuals at its medical facility in Abuja.


The kidnapped miners were reportedly ambushed by a gang of armed bandits on their way to a mining site in Saminaka village, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.


Meanwhile, the DSS continues its nationwide operations against criminal syndicates, recently recording significant breakthroughs, including the interception of arms and ammunition in Delta State, a development widely praised as a testament to its commitment to national security and public safety.
