The rescue operation, jointly carried out by the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army, and the Police, led to the safe recovery of the Chinese nationals

At the formal handover of the victims in Abuja, the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, represented by the Consul, Wang Jun, lauded the Nigerian security agencies, particularly the DSS, for their swift, intelligence-led response.
