The First Lady of Lagos State and Chairman, Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has unveiled activities lined up for the 25th edition of the National Women’s Conference (NWC), describing it as a landmark celebration of visionary legacy, women's empowerment, and transformative leadership.

Speaking during a press briefing held at Press Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, on Thursday, 9th October 2025, Dr. Sanwo-Olu said the Silver Jubilee edition of the National Women’s Conference, themed “25 Years of Visionary Legacy: Inspiring the Next Generation,” is a reflection of COWLSO’s sustained commitment to advancing the welfare, leadership, and economic empowerment of women in Lagos and beyond.

She announced that the three-day Conference will hold from Tuesday, 28th to Thursday, 30th October, 2025, at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, and is expected to attract 3,000 physical delegates and 2,000 virtual participants from across Nigeria and beyond.

Dr. Sanwo-Olu disclosed that the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, is expected to deliver the 25-year Silver Jubilee Address at the Conference, while His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma, Governor of Imo State, will be the Special Guest of Honour at the Opening Ceremony, and his colleague from Sokoto State, His Excellency, Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, will grace the Closing Ceremony as Special Guest of Honour, joining the host Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

She noted that the participation of very important personalities and dignitaries at the event underscores COWLSO’s growing national influence and its role as a unifying platform for promoting women’s development across the country.

“For a quarter of a century, COWLSO has stood tall as a formidable platform committed to the advancement, empowerment, and transformation of women here in Lagos and across Nigeria,” she said. “This milestone edition challenges us to reflect on our journey, celebrate our legacies, and hand the baton to the next generation of women leaders and change-makers.”

Dr. Sanwo-Olu revealed that several pre-conference activities have already commenced to extend the conference’s impact to the grassroots. These include free health screenings, environmental sanitation exercises, empowerment of vulnerable persons, and visits to orphanages and care homes.

In addition, she announced that the annual COWLSO Pre-Conference Awareness Walk will be held on Saturday, 11th October 2025, in Ikorodu, with the theme “Step Up, Show Up, Never Give Up,” with the aim of sensitising residents about the upcoming Conference and inspiring resilience among women.

While saying that the 25th National Women’s Conference promises an engaging lineup of plenary discussions, exhibitions, and interactive sessions, the First Lady listed some of the key highlight sessions at the Conference to include: “Practical Apps for Easier Daily Living, Business Support, and Improved Productivity,” “Women Championing Traffic Discipline through Inclusive and Smarter Transportation Systems."

Others include “Nurturing a Healthy Marriage through Self-Care and Wellness,” chaired by Professor Olatunji Bello, with contributions from Bishop Funke Felix-Adejumo and Mrs. Abimbola Akinwunmi, "Women as Change-Makers: Combating Trafficking, Organ Harvesting, and Unsafe Practices,” chaired by Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Dame Julie Okah-Donli, or Mrs. Nkemdilim Okonkwo, just to mention a few.

Some of the attractions at the Conference include the COWLSO Physical and Virtual Markets, where participants can purchase goods and services at subsidised rates, and the Gala Night featuring entertainment, cultural showcases, and raffle draws.

Earlier, the Chairman of the 2025 National Women’s Conference, Dr. Olayemi Oke-Osanyitolu, described the forthcoming event as a historic Silver Jubilee celebration of women’s empowerment, leadership, and service.

She expressed gratitude to the First Lady of Lagos State and COWLSO Chairman, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, for her exemplary leadership and commitment to advancing the cause of women in Lagos and beyond.

Dr. Oke-Osanyitolu noted that this year’s edition promises to be intellectually stimulating, entertaining, and impactful, featuring thought-provoking sessions on leadership, entrepreneurship, marriage, career development, and personal growth, saying the conference has, over the years, earned a reputation for its strong organisation and meaningful outcomes that inspire women to drive positive change in their communities.
