Texas woman charged with medical child abuse for falsifying toddler’s health and pushing unnecessary feeding tube surgeries A Texas woman has been charged with medical child abuse after allegedly falsifying her toddler’s medical history to pressure doctors into performing unnecessary procedures, including feeding tube surgeries, in what authorities are calling a “sickening” case. Kaitlyn Rose Laura, 31, faces charges of injury to a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Officials said she deliberately misled medical staff about her 3-year-old son’s health to obtain a gastrostomy tube and later a gastrojejunostomy tube, despite no documented medical need. Investigators allege that hospital staff observed the boy eating normally while Laura claimed he refused all food. Covert surveillance confirmed the child was able to eat meals without difficulty, prompting authorities to stop tube feedings.  DR. ADESOLA TAKES OVER AS GENERAL HOSPITAL BADAGRY'S NEW MEDICAL DIRECTOR/CEO

The General Hospital Badagry has witnessed a change of leadership as Dr. Oluseyi Adegoke Adesola took over the headship of the facility from the outgoing Dr. Olatunde Bakare.

Dr. Adesola, speaking during a valedictory / Hospital Management Committee meeting (HMC) held at the Olaniyi Oladapo Conference Room on Tuesday, expressed gratitude to his predecessor for the footprints he had left on the sands of time. He charged both management and workers to continually and efficiently deliver quality healthcare to the people of Badagry and its environs to sustain the good image and positive ratings of the hospital.

He also challenged the Heads of Department on whether they could willingly tell their loved ones to come to the facility to receive medical care, stressing that whatever might be happening within their respective departments is a reflection of their capacity.

The new MD/CEO urged everyone to rise above all challenges facing their service area, as every department would be a reflection of the HOD's capacity or the lack of it. He assured all of his maximum support at all times so that the hospital could surpass the present achievements through meaningful engagements with a view to aligning ideas and directions that would result in positive, high-impact changes on how the facility delivers medical services to Badagry and environs.

Earlier, the former Medical Director/CEO, Dr. Olatunde Bakare, while appreciating the support of the management for his leadership between October 2020 and October 2025, said that the hospital had attained a peak that is much better than where it was five years ago, and that he felt happy and fulfilled to be leaving the hospital.

Dr Bakare was deployed on October 22, 2020 to General Hospital Lagos as Medical Director/CEO, while Dr Adesola, formerly the Medical Director/CEO of General Hospital Epe, which was transformed last year into Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Epe was moved briefly to Mushin General Hospital in the same capacity before being redeployed as Medical Director/CEO of General Hospital Badagry.
