 The credibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voters’ register has come under intense scrutiny ahead of the 2027 general elections, following revelations by INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan that names of deceased persons remain on the register. Amupitan disclosed that names of voters who died as far back as 15 years ago are still listed, a situation critics say could undermine the integrity of the 2027 polls and lead to significant financial waste through the printing of excess ballot papers and other election logistics. The INEC chairman made the revelation while receiving the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Abisoye Coker-Odusote, and her management team during a courtesy visit in Abuja on Wednesday.  EDO/DELTA COMMUNAL CLASH


The House of Representatives today, Tuesday 21st 2025, urged its relevant committees to investigate the alleged communal clashes between people of Iguelgba, Oben, Ikobi, and Obazogbe N’ugu of Edo State and that of Mosogar in Delta State.


According to Billy Osawaru, the member representing Orhionmwon/Uhunmwude Federal Constituency, Edo state, the recent cla$h is allegedly caused by the people of Mosogar Delta state who led unjustified incursi0n and attack by thugs and hoodlums to the Edo communities.


He said that the people have lived in peace within the oil exploration area of Orhionmwon LGA, Edo State with0ut f€ar, harassm€nt and crisis of any kind and have shared common boundaries with Delta State, particularly at the Mosogar axis of the state.


He further added that “if serious action is not taken to stop this, it may snowball into a full-scale interstate crisis, which will in turn threaten the peace and stability of the nation in general".
