 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. The bombardment stretched from night into daylight, with explosions reported across wide areas of the country.  Father charged with vehicular manslaughter after toddler drowns in floodwaters

A California father has been charged with vehicular manslaughter after his 2-year-old son died in floodwaters last month.

The incident occurred on Sept. 18, when authorities responded to reports of a car swept away by floodwaters. The driver, 26-year-old Brandon Padilla-Aguilera, and his son, Xavier, managed to escape the vehicle but became separated. Xavier was found dead the following day after a search by emergency responders and volunteers.

Court documents filed Tuesday charge Padilla-Aguilera with vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and child abuse under circumstances likely to cause serious injury or death. The complaint alleges he caused his son’s death while driving.

Padilla-Aguilera was arrested at his Barstow home on Friday. Prosecutors confirmed they are pursuing vehicular manslaughter and child abuse charges. His defense attorney denied guilt during his first court appearance, and he is scheduled to return to court next week.
