 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms.  Father charged with vehicular manslaughter after toddler drowns in floodwaters

A California father has been charged with vehicular manslaughter after his 2-year-old son died in floodwaters last month.

The incident occurred on Sept. 18, when authorities responded to reports of a car swept away by floodwaters. The driver, 26-year-old Brandon Padilla-Aguilera, and his son, Xavier, managed to escape the vehicle but became separated. Xavier was found dead the following day after a search by emergency responders and volunteers.

Court documents filed Tuesday charge Padilla-Aguilera with vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and child abuse under circumstances likely to cause serious injury or death. The complaint alleges he caused his son’s death while driving.

Padilla-Aguilera was arrested at his Barstow home on Friday. Prosecutors confirmed they are pursuing vehicular manslaughter and child abuse charges. His defense attorney denied guilt during his first court appearance, and he is scheduled to return to court next week.
