 Anambra Govt Warns Against Purchase of Encroached Land at Trans-Nkissi By MaryAnn Chukwuma The Anambra State Ministry of Lands has warned members of the public against purchasing plots at TransNkissi Phase 1, behind the Federal Government Girls College, Onitsha, from persons claiming ownership on behalf of the Umuosodi family of Onitsha. The warning was contained in a public notice dated Sept. 28, 2026, with Ref. No. PS/ML/2026/CR/VOL.II/028 and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Nkeiru Mokwe, for the Commissioner. According to the notice, the Ministry became aware that persons alleged to be members of the Umuosodi family had invaded and commenced clearing portions of the land with the intention of selling them to unsuspecting members of the public. It said compensatory plots had been allocated to the family and other families in Onitsha before the current administration.  Five Fake Cops Arrested After Attempted N12 Highway Hijacking

Five suspects aged between 28 and 34 were arrested in Daveyton after they were found with SAPS uniforms and police equipment in their vehicle.


The arrests came after a 36-year-old man narrowly escaped an attempted hijacking along the N12 highway on Tuesday. The victim was reportedly stopped by a white VW Golf after offering a lift to a female pedestrian. One of the suspects, wearing a police reflective jacket, exited the vehicle — prompting the victim to speed off, suspecting a setup.


The suspects chased after him and tried to block his vehicle again, but EMPD officers noticed their erratic driving and intervened. Upon searching the VW Golf, officers discovered SAPS uniforms, CPF jackets, cellphones, a screwdriver, a taser, two fighting belts, and a firearm license belonging to someone else.


None of the suspects could provide proof of being police officers. They were immediately arrested and charged with impersonating police officers, attempted hijacking, and possession of SAPS property.


The five suspects are currently detained at Daveyton Police Station and are expected to appear in court soon.
