 LASG ISSUES TRAFFIC ADVISORY AHEAD OF FANTI CARNIVAL The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions and restrictions ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled to hold on Monday, 6th April, 2026, around Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island. In a bid to ensure a seamless and hitch-free carnival procession, vehicular movement will be restricted along major adjoining roads linking TBS. Affected Routes are; King George V Road (by Mobil Filling Station), Flag House inbound TBS, Force Road inbound TBS, Onikan Roundabout inbound TBS, and WaterBoy Roundabout by Old Defence House. Additionally, all link roads to Moloney Road, such as Military Road (by Old Defence Building), Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street, will be closed to traffic during the event. Former MLB All-Star Sandy Alomar Sr., father of Roberto and Sandy Jr., dies at 81

Sandy Alomar Sr., the father of former MLB stars Roberto Alomar and Sandy Alomar Jr., has died at 81. The league confirmed his passing on Monday, following reports from Puerto Rico that the former California Angels player had suffered a medical incident just a week before his 82nd birthday.

Alomar Sr. spent 15 seasons in Major League Baseball, playing for six teams and finishing his career with a .245 batting average, 13 home runs, and 282 RBIs. Known more for his speed than his power, he stole 227 bases during his career. After retiring as a player, he continued his involvement in the sport as a coach for the San Diego Padres, Chicago Cubs, Colorado Rockies, and New York Mets. Both of his sons achieved notable MLB success: Sandy Jr. was a six-time All-Star over 20 seasons, while Roberto earned 12 All-Star selections and won two World Series titles.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive. We have approached Turkey for assistance.” The President, however, stated that the delays were affecting the public’s perception of the administration’s commitment to addressing the security challenges.
