 NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable. Former MLB All-Star Sandy Alomar Sr., father of Roberto and Sandy Jr., dies at 81

Sandy Alomar Sr., the father of former MLB stars Roberto Alomar and Sandy Alomar Jr., has died at 81. The league confirmed his passing on Monday, following reports from Puerto Rico that the former California Angels player had suffered a medical incident just a week before his 82nd birthday.

Alomar Sr. spent 15 seasons in Major League Baseball, playing for six teams and finishing his career with a .245 batting average, 13 home runs, and 282 RBIs. Known more for his speed than his power, he stole 227 bases during his career. After retiring as a player, he continued his involvement in the sport as a coach for the San Diego Padres, Chicago Cubs, Colorado Rockies, and New York Mets. Both of his sons achieved notable MLB success: Sandy Jr. was a six-time All-Star over 20 seasons, while Roberto earned 12 All-Star selections and won two World Series titles.
