 Meta to end end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages Meta is ending end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages, a feature the company says will no longer be available after May 8, 2026. Unlike WhatsApp, Instagram never offered encryption to all users or as a default; only select users in certain regions could opt in on a per-chat basis. A Meta spokesperson explained that the decision comes due to low adoption. “Very few people were opting in to end-to-end encrypted messaging in DMs, so we’re removing this option from Instagram in the coming months,” the spokesperson said. “Anyone who wants to keep messaging with end-to-end encryption can easily do that on WhatsApp.” Meta’s messaging strategy has shifted multiple times over the years. WhatsApp chats have been encrypted since 2016, and the company began rolling out default encryption for Messenger in 2023.  GOVERNOR SOLUDO CELEBRATES ARCHBISHOP VALERIAN MADUKA OKEKE ON HIS BIRTHDAY


The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has conveyed his earnest felicitations to His Grace, the Most Rev. Dr. Valerian Maduka Okeke, the Archbishop of the Metropolitan See of Onitsha, on the occasion of his birthday today, October 20th.


Governor Soludo, in his goodwill message, described Archbishop Okeke as a towering pillar of faith, a bastion of hope, and a quintessential embodiment of the spirit of excellence, integrity, and service to God and mankind.


The Governor eulogised the Archbishop for his over two decades of dynamic leadership at the helm of the Onitsha Archdiocese. He noted that under Archbishop Okeke’s spiritual guidance, the Church has witnessed remarkable growth, not only in faith but also in its commitment to education, healthcare, and humanitarian services, which have profoundly impacted the lives of countless citizens.


Governor Soludo further highlighted the Archbishop’s steadfast partnership and support for the State Government’s initiatives, particularly in fostering unity, moral rejuvenation, and  development agenda for a liveable and prosperous homeland.


Therefore, Governor Soludo celebrates Archbishop Valerian Maduka Okeke on his 72nd birthday, wishing him longer life, abundant health, and continued divine wisdom and strength to continue his sacred ministry.
