Ikpeazu Commends Anyanwu’s Effort to Reposition PDP

Former Governor of Abia State and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has expressed optimism that the PDP will emerge stronger despite the challenges confronting the party both nationally and in some states.

Ikpeazu, the fourth democratically elected Governor of Abia State, gave this assurance when he paid a courtesy visit to the National Secretary of the PDP, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, at his Abuja residence as part of activities to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day anniversary.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Ikpeazu noted that the PDP remains a formidable political force in Nigeria and in Abia State, stressing that the party’s resilience over the years has shown its capacity to bounce back stronger.

“The PDP has gone through storms in the past and has always found the strength to reinvent itself. I have no doubt that, working together, we will come out stronger and more united to serve Nigerians better,” Ikpeazu said.

He explained that his visit was not only to felicitate with Senator Anyanwu on the occasion of Nigeria’s Independence but also to reaffirm the commitment of the Abia PDP to the stability and growth of the party.

Ikpeazu, who was accompanied on the visit by the Abia State Chairman of the PDP, Elder Amah Abraham, and the Abia South Zonal Vice Chairman, Enyinnaya Appolos, said that both the membership and leadership of the PDP in Abia remain determined to ensure the repositioning of the party for greater electoral victories.

In his response, Senator Anyanwu commended Ikpeazu for his leadership and unwavering commitment to the PDP, describing him as a strong pillar of support for the party at both the state and national levels.

“We appreciate your leadership and consistency. At a time when some are abandoning the ship, you have remained steadfast. That is the true spirit of leadership and party loyalty,” Anyanwu said.

“Let me assure you that the national leadership of the PDP is working round the clock to strengthen internal cohesion, reconcile our members across the country, and rebuild confidence in the party. Nigerians still see the PDP as the only credible alternative, and together we will not disappoint them,” he added.
