NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable.  Kaduna: NNPP Suspends Chairman Over Alleged Misconduct

The Kaduna State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has suspended its chairman, Muhammad Lawal Sultan, for six months over allegations of gross misconduct.

In a statement signed by the party’s secretary, Dr. Joshua Madaki, the State Working Committee (SWC) announced that Hon. Jumare Tanimu Magaji has been appointed as acting chairman for the duration of the suspension.

According to the statement, the decision followed a meeting of the SWC, which reviewed Sultan’s leadership and concluded that his actions violated several provisions of the NNPP constitution.

“The suspension is in line with relevant sections of the NNPP constitution addressing gross misconduct and breaches of party regulations,” the statement read.

The SWC highlighted Magaji’s extensive political experience, noting that he served as a councillor from 1999 to 2002 under the APP, was a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly from 2007 to 2009 under the ANPP, and has contested for the House of Representatives on three occasions. In 2012, he was appointed adviser to the Lere Local Government Chairman, and before his new role, he served as the NNPP State Treasurer.

“He is a principled leader of integrity who upholds the core values of the NNPP. As a unifier, the SWC believes he will harness his democratic experience to strengthen and defend the party’s interests within Kaduna and beyond,” the statement added.

The SWC said all relevant stakeholders, including the NNPP National Secretariat, INEC, the State Police Command, DSS, and Civil Defence Corps, have been notified of the development.

The party further warned Sultan to desist from parading himself as the NNPP Kaduna State Chairman during the suspension period. Members of the public were also cautioned against conducting any party-related business with him, with the SWC stating that “anyone who does so does so at his own risk.”
