Kim Kardashian reveals she has been diagnosed with a brain aneurysm

Kim Kardashian, the reality TV star and businesswoman, has revealed that she has been diagnosed with a brain aneurysm.

The 45-year-old shared the news in a teaser for the seventh season of her reality series, “The Kardashians,” which premiered Thursday on Hulu. In the clip, she says, “There’s like a little aneurysm,” while her sister Kourtney Kardashian Barker reacts with, “Whoa.” The preview also shows footage of Kardashian undergoing a brain scan, and she suggests stress may have contributed to the condition.

Brain aneurysms are fairly common, with about one in 50 people having an unruptured aneurysm. Most do not experience symptoms and are unaware of the condition. Unruptured aneurysms can sometimes cause headaches, weakness, speech problems, or balance issues if they grow large, while ruptured aneurysms can trigger severe headaches, nausea, confusion, seizures, and potentially life-threatening complications.

Medical experts note that not all brain aneurysms require immediate treatment. Doctors typically consider factors such as the aneurysm’s size, shape, location, family history, and risk factors like high blood pressure or smoking before deciding on intervention. Treatment options are available, including surgery, but many aneurysms can simply be monitored.

While Kardashian suggested stress may have played a role in her aneurysm, specialists say there is no direct link, though chronic stress can contribute to high blood pressure, a known risk factor for aneurysms.

Kardashian has previously promoted full-body MRI scans, even though physicians caution that such scans may not be necessary or useful for every patient.
