 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  Kogi State Government Mourns Victims Of Ibaji Boat Mishap                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             The Government and people of Kogi State received with deep sadness the news of a boat mishap which occurred on the River Niger, involving traders traveling from Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi State to Ilushi market in Edo State.


A statement by the Commissioner for Information and Communication Kingsley Femi Fanwo says, the unfortunate incident is alleged to have claimed the lives of not less than 26 passengers. 


Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families and has directed relevant agencies, including the State Emergency Management Agency, to work with local authorities to provide immediate support and relief to those affected.


The Governor further assured that the State Government will intensify ongoing efforts in collaboration with federal agencies to improve safety measures on waterways in order to prevent a recurrence of such tragedy.


He called on people in riverine communities to always prioritize safety by avoiding overloading and by using life jackets and other precautionary measures whenever they travel by water.
