 FIRST IMPORTED EBOLA CASE: NIGERIA EVACUATES INDEX CASE TO SWITZERLAND AS CONTAINMENT MEASURES CONTINUE The Nigeria’s confirmed Ebola index case has been medically evacuated from Abuja to Switzerland, following approval by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate. The forty-two-year-old patient, whose case marked Nigeria’s first imported Ebola virus disease case, was transferred alongside her spouse, who has remained asymptomatic. In a statement posted on his X handle, Professor Pate said the patient was clinically much improved, stable, conscious and able to communicate, with laboratory test results approaching baseline levels. However, the Minister cautioned that the patient’s clinical improvement does not necessarily mean she is no longer infectious, stressing that strict public health protocols remain in place.  Kogi State Government Mourns Victims Of Ibaji Boat Mishap                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             The Government and people of Kogi State received with deep sadness the news of a boat mishap which occurred on the River Niger, involving traders traveling from Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi State to Ilushi market in Edo State.


A statement by the Commissioner for Information and Communication Kingsley Femi Fanwo says, the unfortunate incident is alleged to have claimed the lives of not less than 26 passengers. 


Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families and has directed relevant agencies, including the State Emergency Management Agency, to work with local authorities to provide immediate support and relief to those affected.


The Governor further assured that the State Government will intensify ongoing efforts in collaboration with federal agencies to improve safety measures on waterways in order to prevent a recurrence of such tragedy.


He called on people in riverine communities to always prioritize safety by avoiding overloading and by using life jackets and other precautionary measures whenever they travel by water.
