 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision.  Lagos Govt demolishes Ola of Lagos’ car showroom


The Lagos State Government has demolished the car showroom belonging to popular social media influencer and automobile dealer, Waris Olayinka Akinwande, popularly known as Ola of Lagos.

The facility, identified as OOL Autos, was pulled down on Saturday 11 October, 2025, according to multiple reports.

Although the state government has yet to release an official statement explaining the reason behind the demolition, the action is believed to be part of its ongoing enforcement campaign against illegal and unsafe structures across Lagos.

Sources and online speculation suggest that the showroom was allegedly constructed beneath a high-tension power line, an area strictly prohibited for building due to safety and urban planning regulations.

The demolition aligns with the government’s continuous efforts to enforce physical planning laws, restore order, and enhance public safety. Similar exercises have recently been carried out in various parts of the state, including the Trade Fair Complex and sections of Lekki, where buildings without approvals or those obstructing drainages, road setbacks, and rights-of-way were removed.

The Lagos State Government has repeatedly emphasized that such actions are aimed at curbing flooding, protecting lives and property, and maintaining a safer and more sustainable urban environment.
