 LAWMA SEALS PREMISES ON AGO PALACE WAY, ARRESTS 11 DUMPERS ON LAGOS ISLAND … Intensifies Enforcement Against Illegal Waste Disposal In renewed enforcement efforts, the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has sealed premises identified for persistent illegal waste dumping along Ago Palace Way and arrested 11 persons for illegal waste disposal in various parts of Lagos Island. The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, said that the enforcement operations underscored the Authority’s resolve to enforce existing waste management regulations and ensure compliance with approved waste disposal practices across Lagos. He explained that the Ago Palace Way operation covered plazas, hotels, lounges and warehouses along the corridor, as part of efforts to tackle activities contributing to waste build-up and environmental nuisance on road setbacks, medians and other unauthorised public spaces.  Lagos Govt demolishes Ola of Lagos’ car showroom


The Lagos State Government has demolished the car showroom belonging to popular social media influencer and automobile dealer, Waris Olayinka Akinwande, popularly known as Ola of Lagos.

The facility, identified as OOL Autos, was pulled down on Saturday 11 October, 2025, according to multiple reports.

Although the state government has yet to release an official statement explaining the reason behind the demolition, the action is believed to be part of its ongoing enforcement campaign against illegal and unsafe structures across Lagos.

Sources and online speculation suggest that the showroom was allegedly constructed beneath a high-tension power line, an area strictly prohibited for building due to safety and urban planning regulations.

The demolition aligns with the government’s continuous efforts to enforce physical planning laws, restore order, and enhance public safety. Similar exercises have recently been carried out in various parts of the state, including the Trade Fair Complex and sections of Lekki, where buildings without approvals or those obstructing drainages, road setbacks, and rights-of-way were removed.

The Lagos State Government has repeatedly emphasized that such actions are aimed at curbing flooding, protecting lives and property, and maintaining a safer and more sustainable urban environment.
