 “No electricity, no vote,” South Africans threaten to shun ruling party ANC Residents in Katlehong, a township outside Johannesburg, have resolved to boycott South Africa's upcoming local elections on November 4 due to long-standing failures by authorities to provide basic services like electricity. For over 20 years, around 180 households in the community have relied on illegal electrical connections pulled from neighboring areas to power their homes. Angry over the lack of formal grid infrastructure, residents are directing their frustration at the ruling African National Congress (ANC). "We have made a collective decision: no electricity, no vote," said community leader Lesiba Rankapole, 59. "We know it is illegal, but we had no choice because we cannot live without electricity.  LVMH considering sale of 50% stake in Rihanna-backed Fenty Beauty, sources say

Luxury conglomerate LVMH is reportedly considering selling its 50% stake in Fenty Beauty, the cosmetics brand co-owned with Grammy-winning singer and entrepreneur Rihanna. The company is said to be working with investment bank Evercore on the potential transaction, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Fenty Beauty, launched by Rihanna in 2017 with the support of LVMH’s beauty incubator Kendo Brands, has become known for its inclusive range of products catering to diverse skin tones. The brand generated roughly $450 million in net sales in 2024 and could be valued between $1 billion and $2 billion, according to sources. Rihanna, who also owns lingerie brand Savage X Fenty, has built Fenty Beauty into a global presence with products sold in stores like Sephora and online platforms such as Amazon.
