An appreciation of the armed forces: weeklong actions across multiple theatres By Bayo Onanuga Some Nigerians and armchair analysts are often quick to criticise the Federal Government for perceived shortcomings in security, highlighting isolated incidents such as kidnappings, improvised explosive devices, suicide bombings, and attacks in parts of the country.  Mark Sanchez's alleged victim ‘safe’ after stabbing, family confirms

The alleged victim in the Mark Sanchez stabbing incident is reported to be “OK,” according to the man’s family, who gave a brief update on Sunday.

The truck driver, 69, suffered a deep facial laceration in the altercation. His family said they are speaking with lawyers before commenting further, but confirmed his condition. “We are talking to lawyers first. We want to be careful what’s said. We appreciate that,” they said.

Sanchez, a former NFL quarterback and current sports commentator, was hospitalized after being stabbed early Saturday morning near Senate Avenue and West Washington Street in downtown Indianapolis. Later that day, police arrested Sanchez, alleging he was the aggressor despite his injuries.

Sanchez, who had been in Indianapolis to provide commentary for the Colts vs. Raiders game, faces three misdemeanor charges: battery resulting in injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication. Authorities plan to provide an update during a news conference on Monday morning.
