 Usman Emerges Labour Party National Chairman, Makes History as First Woman to Lead Party The Labour Party on Tuesday elected Nenadi Usman as its National Chairman at the party’s national convention held in Umuahia, Abia State. With her emergence, Usman becomes the first woman to be elected National Chairman of a political party in Nigeria. Usman had previously been appointed to head the party’s National Caretaker Committee on September 4, 2024, during a National Executive Committee meeting in Umuahia, following a leadership vacuum created by the expiration of the tenure of the former National Working Committee. She led the party through a period of internal disputes, with her leadership later affirmed by both the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal in rulings delivered in January and April 2026 respectively.  NFL analyst Mark Sanchez arrested after being hospitalized with stab wounds

Former NFL quarterback and Fox Sports analyst Mark Sanchez was arrested in Indianapolis early Saturday after suffering stab wounds during a late-night altercation in the city’s downtown area. The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. in the bustling Wholesale District, a popular nightlife spot near the Indiana Statehouse. Sanchez, who was in town to cover Sunday’s Raiders-Colts game, was later hospitalized and is reported to be in stable condition, according to Fox Sports.

Authorities said Sanchez faces misdemeanor charges of battery resulting in injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication. Indianapolis police confirmed that while Sanchez remains hospitalized, he has not yet been booked into a detention center. Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the altercation, which reportedly involved two men — one of whom, believed to be Sanchez, sustained stab wounds, while the other was treated for cuts. Police also indicated that surveillance footage from the scene has been reviewed, and the Marion County prosecutor’s office will determine whether to move forward with formal charges.
