 Man brutalises his pregnant wife in Anambra  In another case of domestic violence, a pregnant woman was brutally beaten by her husband in Ichi, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State. The mother of three identified as Chinelo Francis, from Ebonyi State, said trouble began when she requested money from her husband, Peter, to prepare food.  According to the young woman, she had already bought vegetable with the profit she made from her shop. Peter, also from Ebonyi, claimed he didn’t make money that day and took the children home.  He returned to her shop at around 8:00 PM and insisted she close up and come home with him.  She refused, explaining that the time was when she typically made most of her sales.  Later, she closed up her shop, went home at 9:30 PM, prepared the children for bed, and retired. The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, OON, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora on the occasion of the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary.


In his message, Ambassador Tuggar noted that Nigeria’s 65 years of nationhood reflect the courage, resilience, and unity of its people in overcoming challenges and seizing opportunities for progress. He emphasized that Nigeria has continued to make strides in consolidating democracy, fostering economic growth, and advancing its leadership role within Africa and the international community.


The Minister highlighted that Nigeria’s foreign policy, anchored on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and guided by the 4Ds -Democracy, Development, Demography, and Diaspora remains central to shaping a secure, prosperous, and globally respected nation.


“As we celebrate this milestone,” the Minister stated, “we honour the sacrifices of our founding fathers and reaffirm our commitment to protecting Nigeria’s sovereignty, promoting regional stability, and engaging the world with dignity and purpose. Let us remain united in building a Nigeria that delivers peace, progress, and prosperity for all.”


Ambassador Tuggar called on Nigerians everywhere to uphold the values of patriotism, service, and unity, assuring that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to project Nigeria’s interests and image positively across the globe. He further urged Nigerians in the Diaspora to remain good ambassadors of their country, promoting its image and contributing to national development wherever they reside.
