Freddie Jackson, R&B Legend Behind “You Are My Lady” and “Rock Me Tonight,” Dies at 70 R&B has lost one of its most unmistakable voices. Freddie Jackson, the singer whose smooth delivery helped define romantic R&B during the 1980s and gave generations of listeners songs including “You Are My Lady,” “Rock Me Tonight (For Old Times Sake)” and “Have You Ever Loved Somebody,” has died. He was 70. Jackson’s death was announced Tuesday, October 6, through his verified Instagram account. According to the memorial shared by his family and team, the singer died Monday night, October 5. The announcement did not disclose a cause of death. “It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Freddie Jackson,” the statement read, describing the singer as a generous soul who loved his fans, family, friends and music.  Russian drone strike destroys Ukrainian power plant ahead of winter

Russian drone attacks seriously damaged a Ukrainian thermal power plant overnight, Ukrainian authorities said Wednesday.

Two workers were injured in the strike, according to DTEK, Ukraine’s largest electric company, though the plant’s exact location was not disclosed. The attacks also targeted energy infrastructure in the northern Chernihiv, southern Kherson, and southeastern Dnipropetrovsk regions, part of a recurring pattern of assaults on heat sources ahead of winter. Similar strikes last year left millions of Ukrainians without electricity.

DTEK also reported on X that a coal-enrichment plant in the Donetsk region was destroyed, but no injuries were reported there.

Across Ukraine, at least five civilians were killed and 37 were injured in Russian attacks over the past 24 hours. Ukraine’s air force said Russian forces launched 183 Shahed-type attack and decoy drones overnight, intercepting 154, while 22 struck targets at 11 locations.
