SpaceX launches Falcon 9 for 90th Starlink mission of 2025

SpaceX reached a major milestone on Tuesday with the launch of dozens of new Starlink satellites, marking its 130th mission of the year.

The Falcon 9 rocket, operated by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, completed its 126th flight of 2025 as the Starlink 10-59 mission lifted off early in the morning. The mission deployed 28 additional satellites, expanding the Starlink megaconstellation, which now has more than 8,500 satellites in low Earth orbit, providing global broadband coverage.

Liftoff occurred at 2:46 a.m. EDT from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, overcoming delays caused by storms over the Atlantic and central Florida over the past week. Less than nine minutes after launch, the first stage successfully landed on SpaceX’s drone ship, A Shortfall of Gravitas, in the Atlantic Ocean. This marked the eighth launch and landing for the B1090 booster.
