 APC PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN COUNCIL PRESS STATEMENT ATIKU MUST EXPLAIN THE LEGAL AND FISCAL BASIS OF HIS PETROL SUBSIDY PROPOSAL At his press conference in Abuja on Friday, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar reiterated his proposed  “production subsidy” for locally refined petrol, which he said would reduce pump prices. He went further to ask President Bola Tinubu to slash the cost of diesel and petrol at the pump. That proposal raises important legal, fiscal and practical questions that he must answer. Section 205(1) of the Petroleum Industry Act 2021 provides that unrestricted free-market conditions shall determine wholesale and retail prices of petroleum products. The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, in a statement on Saturday, explained that it neither fixes pump prices nor issues administrative price templates, except where the statutory conditions for intervention are met.  UBEC TO EMPOWER ONE MILLION GIRLS BY 2030


The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has begun engagement with twelve pilot states across the country for the implementation of the LUMINAH 2030 initiative, a national programme designed to educate and empower over one million girls and women by the year 2030.


LUMINAH 2030, an acronym for Learning, Uniting, Modernising, Innovating, Nurturing, Accelerating, and Harmonising  is The Federal Government's bold response to the growing challenges of out-of-school girls, limited access to quality education, and the lack of economic opportunities for women in underserved communities.


The initiative aims to create a pathway for inclusion through accelerated education and skills development, ensuring that no girl or woman is left behind.


When fully implemented, LUMINAH 2030 is expected to transform the lives of more than one million girls and women, bridge the gender gap in education, and improve learning outcomes across Nigeria.
