 PRESS RELEASE OPERATION HADIN KAI FOILS MASS ABDUCTION ATTEMPT AT FGGC MONGUNO Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police Mobile Force (MOPOL), successfully foiled an attempted mass abduction by ISWAP terrorists at the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Monguno, at about 0130 hours (1:30 a.m.) on 19 July 2026. The FGGC facility is currently being utilized by the Borno State Government as temporary hostel accommodation for students of the Federal Polytechnic, Monguno. The terrorists reportedly gained access to the facility with the assistance of suspected collaborators in an attempt to abduct students. Alert security personnel immediately engaged the terrorists with coordinated and overwhelming firepower, effectively stalling their advance with Sector 3 Quick Reaction Force (QRF) immediately reinforcing the school.  UBEC TO EMPOWER ONE MILLION GIRLS BY 2030


The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has begun engagement with twelve pilot states across the country for the implementation of the LUMINAH 2030 initiative, a national programme designed to educate and empower over one million girls and women by the year 2030.


LUMINAH 2030, an acronym for Learning, Uniting, Modernising, Innovating, Nurturing, Accelerating, and Harmonising  is The Federal Government's bold response to the growing challenges of out-of-school girls, limited access to quality education, and the lack of economic opportunities for women in underserved communities.


The initiative aims to create a pathway for inclusion through accelerated education and skills development, ensuring that no girl or woman is left behind.


When fully implemented, LUMINAH 2030 is expected to transform the lives of more than one million girls and women, bridge the gender gap in education, and improve learning outcomes across Nigeria.
