 Military judge suppresses Khalid Sheikh Mohammed’s FBI confession in 9/11 case A military judge has excluded a confession that alleged Sept. 11 attacks mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed gave to FBI agents nearly 20 years ago, ruling that the statements were not made voluntarily. The decision is a setback for the U.S. government's long-running effort to prosecute Mohammed, who is accused of helping develop the plot to hijack planes and crash them into the World Trade Center and Pentagon. Mohammed remains detained at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, alongside other defendants awaiting trial. Lt. Col. Michael Schrama, the judge overseeing the case, scheduled a June 2028 trial for Mohammed and three other defendants earlier this week. In an order issued Friday that has not been made public, Schrama barred prosecutors from using statements Mohammed made during four days of FBI questioning at Guantanamo in January 2007.  VP Shettima, Akpabio, Abbas, others storm Enugu as Governor Mbah, others join APC




 Enugu State’s capital city is agog as all is now set for Gov. Peter Mbah and his political appointees to join the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Tuesday.


Mr Uche Anichukwu, the Senior Special Assistant to Mbah on External Relations, stated this in a statement on Tuesday in Enugu.


According to him, those who will receive Mbah into the party are the Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima; President of the Senate, Sen. Godswill Akpabio; and Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr Tajudeen Abbas.


Others include the APC National Working Committee (NWC) led by the National Chairman of the party, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, as well as governors, ministers, federal lawmakers, and appointees, among others.


Anichukwu quoted various critical segments of the state, as well as Ohanaeze Ndigbo, to have thrown their weight behind Mbah’s decision to join the APC.


He said that the former Chairman of the party in the state, Mr Augustine Nnamani, maintained that PDP had itself to blame for precipitating the mass exodus from the party in Enugu State.


The chairman stated that the party “mistreated and betrayed the people of the South East” and Governor Mbah by failing to recognise Udeh-Okoye as the National Secretary, in line with established tradition within the party.


“The PDP chose a few people in Abuja over and above the South East. Mbah has exited as spelt out in their region’s communique in May to leave the party if its choice was not respected,” he added.
