Obi performed the ceremony alongside the Papal Nuncio to Nigeria, Archbishop Jude Thaddeus Okolo, describing the event as deeply fulfilling and a strong reminder of the transformative power of education in society. He announced his decision to support the school project through monthly financial subvention until its completion, noting that the gesture is aimed at ensuring the realization of the school’s vision, particularly for children who may lack access to quality education.  Young Teacher, Jeremiah Adina, Reportedly Shot Dead Near Kachia Weeks After Completing NYSC, Kaduna State

Tragedy has struck Awon village in Kachia Local Government Area as Jeremiah Adina, a young teacher and recent graduate of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was reportedly killed by gunmen on Wednesday evening.

According to a narration shared by Doris Mackson on her Facebook page, Jeremiah had left home in the evening after informing his wife and mother that he needed to attend to an issue in Kachia, about 23 kilometers away. Barely a few kilometers into the journey, the vehicle he boarded was ambushed by armed men. Jeremiah and the driver were shot dead instantly, while another passenger narrowly escaped.

She said Jeremiah’s death has thrown his family and the wider community into mourning.

Having grown up as an orphan, he reportedly worked on farms to sponsor himself through the College of Education. He later secured a primary school teaching job, obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Education, and went on to serve the nation.

He had recently completed his NYSC passing-out parade (POP) and was preparing to apply for a Master’s degree.

Doris described him as a hardworking young man full of hope, who dreamed of changing his story and building a better future for his family.

“Jeremiah was the only surviving child of his mother. She, his wife, and his children are shattered,” she wrote.
