Kaitlyn Rose Laura, 31, faces charges of injury to a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Officials said she deliberately misled medical staff about her 3-year-old son’s health to obtain a gastrostomy tube and later a gastrojejunostomy tube, despite no documented medical need. Investigators allege that hospital staff observed the boy eating normally while Laura claimed he refused all food. Covert surveillance confirmed the child was able to eat meals without difficulty, prompting authorities to stop tube feedings.  Afghanistan pledges cooperation after cross-border attack kills 3 Chinese workers in Tajikistan 

Afghanistan on Friday expressed deep regret and condemned a cross-border attack into Tajikistan that killed three Chinese workers and injured a fourth. Officials described the incident as the work of elements seeking to create chaos and instability in the region. Afghanistan’s foreign ministry said it is committed to full cooperation with Tajikistan, offering information sharing, technical support, and joint assessments to determine the cause of the attack.

Tajik authorities reported that the assault occurred the previous night, carried out from Afghan territory using a drone armed with grenades and firearms. Tajikistan said the attack highlights ongoing security challenges along the border despite efforts to maintain peace and stability. The Chinese Embassy in Tajikistan warned its citizens against traveling to or working in the border region and advised those already there to evacuate promptly. Relations between Afghanistan and Tajikistan have been tense since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan in 2021, though recent developments, including the reopening of border markets and a Tajik delegation visiting Kabul, suggest a gradual improvement in ties.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
