 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean.  Afghanistan pledges cooperation after cross-border attack kills 3 Chinese workers in Tajikistan 

Afghanistan on Friday expressed deep regret and condemned a cross-border attack into Tajikistan that killed three Chinese workers and injured a fourth. Officials described the incident as the work of elements seeking to create chaos and instability in the region. Afghanistan’s foreign ministry said it is committed to full cooperation with Tajikistan, offering information sharing, technical support, and joint assessments to determine the cause of the attack.

Tajik authorities reported that the assault occurred the previous night, carried out from Afghan territory using a drone armed with grenades and firearms. Tajikistan said the attack highlights ongoing security challenges along the border despite efforts to maintain peace and stability. The Chinese Embassy in Tajikistan warned its citizens against traveling to or working in the border region and advised those already there to evacuate promptly. Relations between Afghanistan and Tajikistan have been tense since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan in 2021, though recent developments, including the reopening of border markets and a Tajik delegation visiting Kabul, suggest a gradual improvement in ties.
