 NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable.  Atiku Abubakar Officially Joins ADC in Adamawa.


Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking a major twist in Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.


The announcement was made earlier today via a post on X, where Abubakar shared photos of himself receiving his ADC membership card alongside a customised “Waziri 01” jersey.


The registration took place in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, and attracted a large gathering of supporters, party officials, and community leaders. In the images, Abubakar is seen raising his membership form as excited supporters captured the moment on their phones.


“It’s official. – AA,” he wrote, confirming long-standing speculation about his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where he had been a dominant figure for decades.


His defection follows his exit from the PDP earlier in 2025; he expected to build a formidable opposition force against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
