Bandits Abduct Six Farmers In Kaduna’s Birnin Gwari Area

Armed bandits have abducted six farmers in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

According to local sources, the attack occurred on Monday evening in Layin Danauta village, located in Kuyello Ward. The victims were reportedly working on their bean farms when the assailants, said to be in large numbers, stormed the area and whisked them away.

A resident who spoke to SaharaReporters confirmed the incident, noting that the abducted farmers are his relatives. He added that while six victims have so far been identified, the number could be higher as several people remain unaccounted for.

The latest abduction comes just days after another kidnapping in the same area. On Friday, several traders were taken hostage while travelling in a commercial vehicle to the weekly Layin Danauta market. The attackers reportedly intercepted their vehicle at Kwanan Danwandara in Tabani Ward, abducting all occupants, including the driver, and two others on a motorcycle.

Residents say insecurity in Birnin Gwari has persisted despite repeated appeals for greater security presence. Bandit groups continue to operate across the area, targeting farmers, traders, and commuters with seeming impunity.
