 LASG REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO END TUBERCULOSIS IN COMMUNITIES IN LAGOS STATE The Lagos State Government on Tuesday reaffirmed its commitment to completely eradicate Tuberculosis (TB) at the grassroots level across the metropolis.  The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health District III, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke made this known during a courtesy visit by the Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria team to her Ikoyi office, emphasising the present administration's commitment to continually prioritise health security across the state. She said the Lagos State First Lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Sanwo-Olu, is a Tuberculosis (TB) champion with the mandate of ending TB now and the continuous expansion of TB scale-up diagnostic centres.  According to her, “The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Sanwo-Olu is a TB champion. Cortland, NY, students suspended for bringing BB gun to school as Halloween costume prop

 Two students from Cortland Junior Senior High School were suspended Friday morning after one of them brought a BB gun to school as part of a Halloween costume, according to a statement from the district. The weapon was discovered in the student’s possession inside the school, prompting officials to alert police and notify families. The district described the incident as showing an “incredible lack of judgment” and a clear violation of school policy prohibiting weapons of any kind on campus.

Police said the student who brought the BB gun did so because his costume depicted someone who had been shot. Another student, realizing the potential consequences, offered to hide the gun in his backpack for the day. A third student, unsure if the weapon was real, reported the situation to school staff. Authorities quickly located the students, and the BB gun was surrendered without incident. Both students were immediately removed from school grounds and suspended pending a superintendent’s hearing. The district emphasized that the possession of any firearm, including BB guns, is strictly banned under its code of conduct. Police confirmed there were no threats made, and classes continued without disruption.
