“Wicked” star Cynthia Erivo kicked off the 99th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City Thursday morning with a performance of Nina Simone’s iconic “Feeling Good.”
The parade, broadcast on NBC and Peacock, is being hosted by “Today” anchors Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, and Al Roker. Manhattan is expected to reach a high of 45 degrees during the festivities.
This year’s event features 28 floats, 34 giant balloons, four balloonicles, marching bands, clowns, and, of course, an appearance by Santa Claus. Performers include country star Lainey Wilson, fresh off her Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year win, as well as EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI, who performed songs for KPop Demon Hunters’ fictional band Huntr/x.
Celebrity appearances will also include Drew Baldridge, Matteo Bocelli, Colbie Caillat, Gavin DeGraw, Meg Donnelly, Mr. Fantasy, Foreigner, Debbie Gibson, Mickey Guyton, Christopher Jackson, Jewel, Lil Jon, Kool & the Gang, Darlene Love, Roman Mejia, Taylor Momsen, Tiler Peck, the Radio City Rockettes, Busta Rhymes, Calum Scott, Shaggy, Lauren Spencer Smith, Luisa Sonza, and Teyana Taylor.
