 STATEHOUSE PRESS STATEMENT PRESIDENT TINUBU MOURNS NAF PERSONNEL IN ONDO JET CRASH, ORDERS THOROUGH INVESTIGATION OF THE MISHAP   President Bola Tinubu has expressed profound sadness over the crash on Monday morning of a Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 jet near a naval base in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State.   The aircraft was on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos when the accident occurred.   The President extends his deepest condolences to the family of the 25 passengers and seven crew members involved, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, and all officers, airmen and airwomen of the Nigerian Air Force.   "This is a painful moment for our Armed Forces and for the entire nation.  Ex-Grizzlies star Tony Allen faces drug-related arrest in Arkansas 

Former Memphis Grizzlies star Tony Allen has been arrested in Arkansas on drug-related charges, according to local authorities.

The Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Allen faces two charges of drug possession—one felony and one misdemeanor—and is being held without bond. The arrest occurred after a traffic stop about 50 miles from Memphis, when the vehicle Allen was riding in was pulled over for an improper lane change. Officials say Allen was found with a bag of marijuana, and deputies reportedly discovered cocaine in a cigarette box during a search of the car.

Allen, 43, spent the bulk of his NBA career with the Memphis Grizzlies from 2011 to 2017 and also played for the Boston Celtics and New Orleans Pelicans. He is widely regarded as one of the league’s top defensive players, and the Grizzlies retired his jersey in March.

This is not Allen’s first legal issue. In 2023, he pled guilty in a federal case involving an NBA health insurance and fraud scheme and was sentenced to community service and three years of supervised probation.
