 LASG ISSUES TRAFFIC ADVISORY AHEAD OF FANTI CARNIVAL The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions and restrictions ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled to hold on Monday, 6th April, 2026, around Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island. In a bid to ensure a seamless and hitch-free carnival procession, vehicular movement will be restricted along major adjoining roads linking TBS. Affected Routes are; King George V Road (by Mobil Filling Station), Flag House inbound TBS, Force Road inbound TBS, Onikan Roundabout inbound TBS, and WaterBoy Roundabout by Old Defence House. Additionally, all link roads to Moloney Road, such as Military Road (by Old Defence Building), Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street, will be closed to traffic during the event.  FIFA to introduce new peace prize at World Cup draw in Washington 

FIFA has announced the creation of a new peace prize, set to be awarded at the World Cup draw on Dec. 5 in Washington.

The FIFA Peace Prize will honor “exceptional actions for peace,” the governing body said Wednesday. “In an increasingly unsettled and divided world, it’s fundamental to recognize the outstanding contribution of those who work hard to end conflicts and bring people together in a spirit of peace,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said. The award will be presented annually by Infantino “on behalf of fans from all around the world.”

The announcement comes amid recent connections between FIFA and former President Donald Trump, who was not selected for the Nobel Peace Prize last month despite lobbying efforts. Infantino and Trump were both scheduled to speak at an unrelated event in Miami on Wednesday. Additionally, FIFA recently appointed Trump’s daughter Ivanka to the board of a $100 million education initiative, partially funded by 2026 World Cup ticket sales.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive.
