 Anambra LG Commissioner Warns Against Politicising Town Union Offices, Urges Focus on Development ‎By Chisom Okpala ‎ ‎The Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Barr. Vin Ezeaka, has cautioned individuals who perceive the positions of President-General and Town Union Executive as political offices to desist from such notions. He advised that these institutions should remain dedicated to community development and the collective interests of the people. ‎ ‎Barr. Ezeaka made this admonition on Friday, June 5, while receiving the Ugbenu Town Union Executive in his office at the Old Government House, Awka.  FIFA to introduce new peace prize at World Cup draw in Washington 

FIFA has announced the creation of a new peace prize, set to be awarded at the World Cup draw on Dec. 5 in Washington.

The FIFA Peace Prize will honor “exceptional actions for peace,” the governing body said Wednesday. “In an increasingly unsettled and divided world, it’s fundamental to recognize the outstanding contribution of those who work hard to end conflicts and bring people together in a spirit of peace,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said. The award will be presented annually by Infantino “on behalf of fans from all around the world.”

The announcement comes amid recent connections between FIFA and former President Donald Trump, who was not selected for the Nobel Peace Prize last month despite lobbying efforts. Infantino and Trump were both scheduled to speak at an unrelated event in Miami on Wednesday. Additionally, FIFA recently appointed Trump’s daughter Ivanka to the board of a $100 million education initiative, partially funded by 2026 World Cup ticket sales.
