 FRSC CONFIRMS FATAL CRASH THAT KILLED 12 VICTIMS AT GADA BIYU ALONG YANGOJI–ABUJA CORRIDOR The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has confirmed a fatal multiple vehicle road traffic crash that claimed twelve lives at about 1145hrs on Sunday, 11 January 2026, at Gada Biyu, along the Yangoji–Abuja (YGJ–ABJ) corridor. According to a statement signed by the Corps Public Education Officer, Segun Ogungbemide, The crash involved four vehicles: one commercial trailer conveying coal, one commercial bus, and two commercial cars.  Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident could have been caused by speed violation and dangerous driving which led to loss of control. Further information gathered indicated that the truck driver was driving at an excessive speed beyond the legally prescribed limit for the corridor, lost control, and crashed into already parked vehicles, triggering the fatal collision. GOV. ALEX OTTI, SAYS THAT HIS ADMINISTRATION IS MAKING RENEWED EFFORTS TO IDENTIFY MINOR OFFENDERS IN CORRECTIONAL CENTRES ACROSS THE STATE FOR POSSIBLE PARDON AS PART OF YULETIDE INTERVENTIONS.(PHOTO).

 Governor Alex Otti, says that his administration is making renewed efforts to identify minor offenders in correctional centres across the state for possible pardon as part of yuletide interventions.


He said that he recently met with the Zonal Commandant of the Nigerian Correctional Service and reviewed ongoing support for facilities in the state.


“Even though it is a federal agency, our people are the ones affected. So, we decided to protect the entire place by erecting perimeter fences, and we are building a one-storey holding centre to decongest the cells. The idea is not to keep more people there, but to ensure that those who enter the centre do not come out as hardened criminals”, he explained.


“In the last two years, I made attempts to grant pardon to minor offenders using the prerogative of mercy, but we couldn’t find any. All the 1,900-plus inmates had serious offences. I have asked the Zonal Commandant to look into it again to see if there are people who can be considered as we mark the end of the year”, he added.


The governor also appealed to residents to remain security-conscious throughout the festive period.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity.
