 Somali World Cup Referee Denied Entry to United States Award-winning Somali referee, Omar Artan, has been denied entry into the United States despite holding a valid visa, according to a senior official in Somalia’s sports ministry. Artan, who is set to become the first Somali referee to officiate at the FIFA World Cup finals, was stopped at Miami International Airport and subsequently returned to Istanbul, where he had been residing. The reason for the denial was not immediately disclosed. However, Somalia is among the countries affected by a travel ban introduced by the administration of Donald Trump.  Governor Yusuf Boosts JTF Operations with New Vehicles and Motorcycles


Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has strengthened security operations in the state with the allocation of 10 vehicles and 50 motorcycles to the Joint Task Force (JTF).


The intervention is designed to enhance mobility, response time, and overall operational efficiency—particularly in the frontline Local Government Areas of Kiru, Tsanyawa, Kunchi, Ghari, Shanono, Tudun Wada, and Doguwa.


According to a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the handover ceremony was held on Wednesday at the Government House, Kano.


The allocation letter was presented by the Director, Special Services, Umar Baba Zubairu, who represented the Director General, Special Services, Major General Sani Muhammad (rtd).


The JTF Commander, AM Tukur, was represented at the event by his Chief of Staff.


The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Commissioner of Police, the Director of DSS, the Commander of NSCDC, as well as Chairmen of Kiru, Tsanyawa, and Gwarzo Local Government Areas.


Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing security and supporting collaborative initiatives aimed at safeguarding lives and property across the state.
