 Three de-ad, four coaches affected as Warri-Itakpe train derails The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has confirmed the d3ath of three persons following the derailment of the Warri-Itakpe train in Agbor, Delta State. The Corporation added that four coaches left the rail track during the incident which occurred on Monday, June 8, 2026. The Managing Director of NRC, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, said in a statement that the emergency response team and other relevant authorities are currently managing the situation and providing necessary assistance. “The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has confirmed a serious train accident involving the Warri–Itakpe Train Service (WITS) corridor at Agbor, Delta State,” the statement read. “Rescue and emergency response operations were immediately activated.  Governor Yusuf Boosts JTF Operations with New Vehicles and Motorcycles


Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has strengthened security operations in the state with the allocation of 10 vehicles and 50 motorcycles to the Joint Task Force (JTF).


The intervention is designed to enhance mobility, response time, and overall operational efficiency—particularly in the frontline Local Government Areas of Kiru, Tsanyawa, Kunchi, Ghari, Shanono, Tudun Wada, and Doguwa.


According to a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the handover ceremony was held on Wednesday at the Government House, Kano.


The allocation letter was presented by the Director, Special Services, Umar Baba Zubairu, who represented the Director General, Special Services, Major General Sani Muhammad (rtd).


The JTF Commander, AM Tukur, was represented at the event by his Chief of Staff.


The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Commissioner of Police, the Director of DSS, the Commander of NSCDC, as well as Chairmen of Kiru, Tsanyawa, and Gwarzo Local Government Areas.


Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing security and supporting collaborative initiatives aimed at safeguarding lives and property across the state.
