 New UK Prime Minister not the leader Britain needs — Kemi Badenoch UK Conservative Party leader, Kemi Badenoch, has congratulated Andy Burnham on becoming Britain’s new prime minister but said while he is “a nice man,” the country needs a leader capable of making difficult decisions rather than “a people pleaser.” In a statement released on Monday on X following Burnham’s assumption of office, Badenoch wished the new prime minister success but vowed to hold his government accountable as Leader of the Opposition. “Today, Britain has a new Prime Minister. I wish Andy Burnham every success. Because we need a Prime Minister and a Government focused on fixing the public’s priorities,” she said.  House Urges Suspension of WAEC Computer Based Examination

‎The House of Representatives has passed a resolution urging the Federal Ministry of Education and the West African Examination Council to suspend the commencement of its computer based examination in 2026, citing inadequate facilities and preparation. 


‎Adopting a motion of urgent national importance by Representative Kelechi Nwogu, the House notes that the technical glitches that led to shutting down of WAEC's 2025 result portal are indications that time is not ripe for commencement of the Computer based examination policy. 


‎Lawmakers also condemned poor sanitary conditions in some parts of the nation's capital, while also highlighting security threats posed by non-functional streetlights in Abuja and environs. 

‎

‎An ad-hoc committee was constituted to look into waste management as well as dysfunctional streetlights in the nation's capital and make recommendations for legislative and executive action.
