 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision.  "I will rather quit the military than get involved in the invasion of Nigeria"


Opeyemi David Falegan of the ODF foundation, a well known Ekiti State man, serving in the United Nations peacekeeping missions has vowed to resign rather than obey Trump’s order to fight in Nigeria, saying that he would rather quit the military than fight in Nigeria.


The soldier shared his statement on Facebook, explaining that he would not follow any orders, even those of the UN that ask him to fight in Nigeria, emphasizing on rather leaving the military than obey any instruction of invasion against his country.


The post as seen on his page reads;

"If trump gets involved in Nigerian case , then United Nations get involved .

Imagine been ordered to wage war in  ur home country, I will rather quit the military than fight in my home country, even though terr0rist is the target, I might f!ght for my home country to conquer band!t and terr0rism
