Justin Baldoni’s $400M countersuit against Blake Lively dismissed
A judge has dismissed Justin Baldoni’s $400 million countersuit against Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds after Baldoni missed the deadline to file an amended complaint.
U.S. District Court Judge Lewis Liman signed the order on Oct. 31, noting that Baldoni and his company, Wayfarer Studios, had not submitted a revised complaint after the initial lawsuit was dismissed in June. The judge had previously reached out to both parties earlier this month to confirm whether they intended to move forward; Lively responded, requesting a final judgment, while Baldoni’s team did not. Liman agreed to preserve Lively’s request for legal fees and other damages.
Lively initially sued Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios in December 2024, alleging a “multi-tiered plan” to harm her reputation after she and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, confronted Baldoni and a producer over repeated sexual harassment and other concerning behavior on the set of It Ends With Us. She also claimed that Baldoni fostered a hostile work environment during production.
Baldoni countered with accusations of defamation and extortion against Lively, Reynolds, and their publicist, denying her claims. Lively further alleged that Baldoni orchestrated a smear campaign against her after the film’s release.
The legal battle between Lively and Baldoni is scheduled to go to trial in March 2026.
