 El-Rufai to remain in custody as court adjourns bail application to April 14 Justice Rilwanu Aikawa of a Federal High Court in Kaduna has adjourned the hearing of the bail application filed by former Kaduna State governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, to April 14th. The bail application of the former governor came up before the court today. April 1. The court adjourned the case after listening to arguments from both the defence and prosecution  El-Rufai was arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on a 10-count charge bordering on alleged conversion of public property and money laundering. He pleaded not guilty to all the charges. The court ordered that he remain in ICPC custody pending the hearing of his bail application on the fixed date. The former governor arrived at the court premises around 9:00 a.m. in a black Hilux vehicle, accompanied by DSS officials.

The Kebbi State Police Command says it has deployed tactical units to join military personnel, and vigilantes for a joint search and rescue operation following the abduction of the Deputy Speaker, Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Sama’ila Bagudo.


In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the incident occurred on Friday night, October 31, 2025, at about 8:20 p.m., when a gang of armed bandits attacked Bagudo town in Bagudo Local Government Area and kidnapped the Deputy Speaker shortly after observing the Isha’i prayers on his way home.


Upon receiving the report, the Police Command swiftly mobilized a combined team of tactical operatives, military personnel, and local vigilantes, who are currently combing the bandits’ escape routes and surrounding forests with the aim of rescuing the lawmaker unhurt and apprehending the perpetrators.


The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, Bello Sani, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.


He appealed to members of the public to remain calm, vigilant, and to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing useful information that could aid ongoing operations.
