 The credibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voters’ register has come under intense scrutiny ahead of the 2027 general elections, following revelations by INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan that names of deceased persons remain on the register. Amupitan disclosed that names of voters who died as far back as 15 years ago are still listed, a situation critics say could undermine the integrity of the 2027 polls and lead to significant financial waste through the printing of excess ballot papers and other election logistics. The INEC chairman made the revelation while receiving the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Abisoye Coker-Odusote, and her management team during a courtesy visit in Abuja on Wednesday. Kogi CP Visits Derailed Train Site At Adogo; Orders Deployment Of Personnel To Protect Stranded Passengers


Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Naziru Bello Kankarofi, has reaffirmed the Command's readiness to safeguard the lives and property in the State.


He stated this while conducting an on‑the‑spot assessment of the derailed train at Adogo, Ajaokuta local government area of Kogi State.

Cp Kankarofi who met with the Nigerian Railway Corporation management and stranded passengers at the site, describes the incident as unfortunate. He ordered immediate deployment of security personnel to safeguard the people and facilities while monitoring the evacuation of all passengers to Ajaokuta station.

A statement by the Commands Public Relations Officer, CSP William Aya says the CP at the site also deployed additional security to secure the derailed coaches, expressing his determination to work in synergy with other security agencies to protect lives and property across the State.
