Trump issues pardon to former Republican congressman Stephen Buyer after insider trading conviction    President Donald Trump has issued a full pardon to former Republican congressman Stephen Buyer, who served nearly two years in prison after being convicted of insider trading tied to post-congressional consulting work. Buyer was sentenced in 2023 to 22 months in prison for illegal stock trades made while working as a consultant and lobbyist. He was ordered to forfeit more than $350,000 in ill-gotten gains and pay a $10,000 fine. He was released from custody in 2025 after his conviction was upheld, with the Supreme Court declining to take up his appeal earlier this year.  Makatu Man Arrested for Brutal Murder of Girlfriend and Attempted Murder of Her Daughter 


South Africa: A 48-year-old male suspect is expected to appear before the Dzanani Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 05 November 2025, in connection with the brutal murder of his 47-year-old girlfriend and the attempted murder of her 16-year-old daughter at Makatu Village in the Siloam policing area under the Vhembe District. The incident occurred on Monday morning, 03 November 2025.  


The suspect was swiftly arrested on Tuesday, 04 November 2025, at Biaba in Makhado during a joint operation conducted by members of the Siloam Detectives and Makhado Police, following intelligence received about his whereabouts.  


It is alleged that the suspect forcefully entered the home of his girlfriend while she was asleep with her children. According to information, the 16-year-old girl woke up to her younger sister’s screams and found her mother being attacked by the suspect, who was known to them. When she tried to intervene, the suspect allegedly stabbed her several times before fleeing the scene.  


Police were called to the scene and discovered the lifeless body of the 47-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds. Her daughter was rushed to a local hospital where she is receiving medical treatment.  


Further investigation revealed that the suspect is a repeat offender, and police investigations are continuing.
