 New UK Prime Minister not the leader Britain needs — Kemi Badenoch UK Conservative Party leader, Kemi Badenoch, has congratulated Andy Burnham on becoming Britain’s new prime minister but said while he is “a nice man,” the country needs a leader capable of making difficult decisions rather than “a people pleaser.” In a statement released on Monday on X following Burnham’s assumption of office, Badenoch wished the new prime minister success but vowed to hold his government accountable as Leader of the Opposition. “Today, Britain has a new Prime Minister. I wish Andy Burnham every success. Because we need a Prime Minister and a Government focused on fixing the public’s priorities,” she said.  Malami declares 2027 Kebbi governorship bid, says he'll salvage state


Abubakar Malami, former attorney-general of the federation (AGF), has declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Kebbi state.


Malami announced his ambition during an interview with DCL Hausa on Monday.


The former AGF said he has the support of residents across the state.


“INEC guidelines do not allow us to begin any form of mobilisation yet, but I assure you that when the time comes, you will see that we have the support of the people of Kebbi state,” he said.


“I have agreed to contest, and there is no retreat. God willing, we are going to win because we have people who believe in us, and we will not let them down.”


Malami criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the ruling party had caused hardship, especially in the northern region.
