 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  Malami declares 2027 Kebbi governorship bid, says he'll salvage state


Abubakar Malami, former attorney-general of the federation (AGF), has declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Kebbi state.


Malami announced his ambition during an interview with DCL Hausa on Monday.


The former AGF said he has the support of residents across the state.


“INEC guidelines do not allow us to begin any form of mobilisation yet, but I assure you that when the time comes, you will see that we have the support of the people of Kebbi state,” he said.


“I have agreed to contest, and there is no retreat. God willing, we are going to win because we have people who believe in us, and we will not let them down.”


Malami criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the ruling party had caused hardship, especially in the northern region.
