 A priest in Anambra State wedded a couple yesterday, despite disputes with the bride’s father In a video circulating online, the Reverend Father narrated that The father of the bride who is from Nteje had insisted that the wedding should not take place unless his daughter swøre never to associate with his mother whom he has a quarrel with. The conflict arose from past marriage issues between the father and her mother. Before the wedding, the father repeatedly met with the priest, warning that he had already taken the bride's mother to a deity and that the girl must follow him to the shrine to appease that deity before the marriage can go on. For peace to prevail, the priest advised the couple to comply with all the father’s requests so the wedding could proceed, the priest even donated some of the items that the brides father told her to bring to use in appeasing the deity.  NELFUND Student Loan 

Applications Hit One Million; Disburses 116 Billion Naira


The Nigerian Education Loan Fund 'NELFUND' says it has recorded over one million applications on its student loan portal since its official launch on May 24, 2024.


In a statement, NELFUND’s Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, quotes the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Akintunde Sawyerr, as describing the milestone as “a defining moment in Nigeria’s pursuit of equitable education financing.”

So far, the Fund has disbursed more than ₦116 billion in student loans, covering institutional fees and upkeep allowances for students across universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education nationwide.

NELFUND reaffirms its commitment to continuous process improvement and transparent disbursement to ensure that every qualified Nigerian student can access funding, regardless of background or location.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
