 Somali World Cup Referee Denied Entry to United States Award-winning Somali referee, Omar Artan, has been denied entry into the United States despite holding a valid visa, according to a senior official in Somalia’s sports ministry. Artan, who is set to become the first Somali referee to officiate at the FIFA World Cup finals, was stopped at Miami International Airport and subsequently returned to Istanbul, where he had been residing. The reason for the denial was not immediately disclosed. However, Somalia is among the countries affected by a travel ban introduced by the administration of Donald Trump.  NIS Confirms Deadly Attack on Bakin Ruwa Checkpoint in Kebbi


The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) @nigimmigration has confirmed that unidentified gunmen attacked its Bakin Ruwa Checkpoint, under the Tuga Border Patrol Formation in #Kebbi State, on Thursday night.


According to a statement issued by the Service Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi, the assault occurred around 10:00 p.m., resulting in the deaths of three immigration personnel. Operational assets and facilities at the checkpoint were also destroyed during the incident.


The Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, has directed an immediate tactical response.


 Measures include the deployment of reinforcements, intensified joint operations with sister security agencies, enhanced intelligence gathering along the Tuga axis, and increased patrols in the area.


The NIS called on members of the public to remain calm and continue providing useful information to security agencies as efforts to secure the border corridor are stepped up.
