 El-Rufai’s Family Protests SSS Detention, Alleges Torture, Medical Neglect Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai has continued to face controversy over his detention, as members of his family and supporters staged a protest in Abuja on Monday over his custody by the State Security Service (SSS). The demonstrators, which included Senator Lawal Adamu and close relatives of the former governor, accused security authorities of subjecting him to psychological pressure and denying him access to medical care despite existing court directives. Speaking outside the SSS facility, El-Rufai’s second wife, Asia, said the family had been living under fear due to what she described as persistent surveillance and security intimidation connected to the case.  One Suspect Fatally Injured, Another Detained Following House Robbery Pursuit


Two suspects believed to be involved in a string of house robberies and vehicle thefts in the Centurion and greater Pretoria areas were intercepted during a joint operation on Sunday, 09 November 2025.


Information was received regarding a group of suspects operating in the region, traveling in a white VW Polo. Units were deployed in the Centurion and Monument Park areas to monitor their movements.


The suspects were later spotted driving recklessly from Centurion towards Monument Park. Tactical teams pursued the vehicle, resulting in a high-speed chase. The suspects lost control and collided head-on with a civilian vehicle.


One suspect sustained fatal injuries, while the second was transported to hospital under police guard with serious injuries.


Preliminary investigations revealed the vehicle was stolen and positively linked to a Garsfontein case (CAS /10/2025). Various housebreaking implements, gloves, cellphones, and suspected stolen property were recovered.
