 LASG ISSUES TRAFFIC ADVISORY AHEAD OF FANTI CARNIVAL The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions and restrictions ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled to hold on Monday, 6th April, 2026, around Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island. In a bid to ensure a seamless and hitch-free carnival procession, vehicular movement will be restricted along major adjoining roads linking TBS. Affected Routes are; King George V Road (by Mobil Filling Station), Flag House inbound TBS, Force Road inbound TBS, Onikan Roundabout inbound TBS, and WaterBoy Roundabout by Old Defence House. Additionally, all link roads to Moloney Road, such as Military Road (by Old Defence Building), Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street, will be closed to traffic during the event.  Peter Obi Votes in Anambra Governorship Election, Decries Vote-Buying and Deteriorating Democracy


Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, cast his vote at 11:46 a.m. on Saturday at Polling Unit 019, Umudim Akasi, Agulu Ward 2, Anaocha Local Government Area, during the ongoing governorship election.


Speaking to journalists after voting, Obi expressed deep concern over the state of Nigeria’s democracy, describing it as “deteriorating” and alleging that beneficiaries of poor governance are exacerbating the decline.


He strongly condemned widespread vote-buying, noting instances where unemployed individuals were offered ₦30,000 for their votes.


“Our democracy is deteriorating, and unfortunately, those who are benefiting from bad governance seem to be fueling it,” Obi said.


“I have been able to listen and move around to see what is happening, and it is bad that we still experience vote-buying. Someone who is not employed collects N30,000 for his vote—that means you have sold your school, your hospital, your job opportunities and selling away your future. That is what is very worrisome about our democracy.


“Other countries, even West African countries that are close to us where I have observed elections, I haven’t seen something like this happening. This must stop.”


Though not a candidate in the election, Obi reaffirmed his support for the Labour Party’s governorship candidate, Dr. George Moghalu, while extending goodwill to all contestants.


“I’m not on the ballot, but I’m a member of Labour Party and I support my candidate, Dr. George Moghalu. All the people contesting are my friends and I wish them well,” he added.


Voting continues across Anambra State amid reports of electoral malpractices and logistical challenges in several areas.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
