 President Trump awarded inaugural FIFA Peace Prize at World Cup draw in Washington  Gianni Infantino, the FIFA President presented the honour onstage at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, saying Trump had been selected “in recognition of his exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity around the world”. “This is your prize, this is your peace prize,” Infantino said, after Trump took the stage to accept the trophy, a medal and certificate. “There is also a beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go.”   FIFA says the prize is for “individuals who help unite people in peace through unwavering commitment and special actions”.  Accepting the award, Trump called it “one of the great honours of my life”, before claiming to have “saved millions and millions of lives – the Congo is an example, over 10 million people killed and it was heading for another 10 million very quickly.  PRESIDENT TINUBU MOURNS JUSTICE MUKHTAR DODO


President Bola Tinubu has expressed grief over the passing of Justice Mukhtar Muhammad Dodo (rtd), who died on Sunday at the age of 70.

 In a statement Bayo Onanuga Special Adviser to the President, Information and Strategy, "the late jurist, who hailed from Katsina State, had a long and illustrious career in the Judiciary before his retirement.

 

He served as Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and later as a High Court judge of the Federal Capital Territory.

 

President Tinubu described the deceased as an upright judicial officer, a patriotic Nigerian and a fearless jurist who spent his life contributing to the strengthening of Nigeria’s judicial system.

 

The President while praying for the repose of the soul of the departed retired justice also prayed Allah to give his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

 

The President also extended his commiseration to the government and people of Katsina State, as well as the Dodo family.
