 Somali World Cup Referee Denied Entry to United States Award-winning Somali referee, Omar Artan, has been denied entry into the United States despite holding a valid visa, according to a senior official in Somalia’s sports ministry. Artan, who is set to become the first Somali referee to officiate at the FIFA World Cup finals, was stopped at Miami International Airport and subsequently returned to Istanbul, where he had been residing. The reason for the denial was not immediately disclosed. However, Somalia is among the countries affected by a travel ban introduced by the administration of Donald Trump.  SECURITY IN ANAMBRA: POLICE ARRESTS ARMED SUSPECTED SECESSIONIST MEMBER IN IHIALA


As CP Orutugu Orders Heightened Security Surveillance and Raid Operations Across the State


The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a suspected member of a proscribed Secessionists Group following an early morning intelligence-led operation on 20th November 2025, as Police operatives attached to Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu apprehended one Friday Nnamdi Anyikame, male, 25 years, in Ihiala and recovered 2 (two) pump-action firearms and 29 (twenty-nine) live cartridges.


During interrogation, the suspect confessed to being an active member of an armed group and revealed that he operates from a criminal camp located in Ogbaru LGA.


The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc mnips Phd, while commending the operatives for their swift and coordinated response, has ordered an immediate intensification of security surveillance and targeted raid operations across the State. He further assured residents that the Command is already closing in on other fleeing members of the gang and is determined to dismantle their criminal network in Anambra.


The CP urges Ndi Anambra to remain vigilant and continue to support the Police with timely and actionable information that will aid ongoing security operations.
