 New UK Prime Minister not the leader Britain needs — Kemi Badenoch UK Conservative Party leader, Kemi Badenoch, has congratulated Andy Burnham on becoming Britain’s new prime minister but said while he is “a nice man,” the country needs a leader capable of making difficult decisions rather than “a people pleaser.” In a statement released on Monday on X following Burnham’s assumption of office, Badenoch wished the new prime minister success but vowed to hold his government accountable as Leader of the Opposition. “Today, Britain has a new Prime Minister. I wish Andy Burnham every success. Because we need a Prime Minister and a Government focused on fixing the public’s priorities,” she said.  SENATE MOVES TO BAN ENLISTMENT OF UNDERAGE IN ARMED FORCES

Senate is in the process of repealing and reenacting the Nigeria's Armed Forces act, Part of which makes provision to prohibit enlistment of persons below 18 years in the military.


This is in alignment with Childs right act and international humanitarian standards.


Other proposals in the bill seek extension of protections and rights to non commissioned officers to boost morale and fairness.


The bill sponsored by Senator Abdulaziz Yaradua also seeks to reinforce the President's constitutional authority as commander in chief, and vests the day to day operational command in the Chief of Defence Staff.


When passed and assented to, qualified military lawyers will be able to represent the Armed forces in civil courts.
