Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing.  SERVICE CHIEFS REAFFIRM UNITY OF PURPOSE IN STRENGTHENING NATIONAL SECURITY


In a display of cohesive leadership and shared commitment, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, on 10 November 2025, joined the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Olufemi Oluyede and other Service Chiefs on an official visit to the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle. The high-level engagement served as a strategic platform to brief the Minister on ongoing military operations across the country and to deliberate on measures to enhance inter-service collaboration, intelligence sharing, and joint operational effectiveness in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.


The Honourable Minister commended the Armed Forces for their professionalism and sustained efforts in safeguarding the nation, assuring them of the Ministry’s continued support through resource provision and policy guidance. In response, the Service Chiefs reaffirmed their collective resolve to defend Nigeria’s territorial integrity and ensure enduring peace and stability. The Chief of the Air Staff particularly reiterated the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to sustaining air superiority and providing decisive support to joint operations across all theatres.
