Seven Suspected Syndicate Members Arrested in Limpopo and North West Crackdown

A joint operation by SAPS Limpopo and North West has led to the arrest of seven suspects believed to be part of a dangerous crime syndicate responsible for multiple business robberies, armed attacks, and a recent fatal robbery in Matlematlong. The group consists of six men and one woman, aged between 31 and 49.

The multidisciplinary team included members from Northam CIS, Rustenburg TRT, Mogwase CIS, Mogwase Vispol, and Northam Rural Safety. Their coordinated efforts resulted in swift arrests and major recoveries.

The breakthrough came after a business robbery on 12 November 2025, during which a victim lost his life. Investigators at the scene linked a white Toyota Fortuner to suspects who had been terrorising communities in Northam, Mogwase, and nearby areas.

Police tracked the vehicle and intercepted it near a school in Northam, arresting the driver believed to be part of the syndicate. Information gathered during questioning led officers to Rethabile Village in Amandelbult, where more suspects were apprehended.

During the operation, police recovered an AK47 rifle, two 9mm pistols with removed serial numbers (one confirmed to belong to SAPS), 36 magazines, 70 rounds of AK47 ammunition, 110 9mm cartridges, as well as stolen items including a TV, speakers, cigarettes, several cellphones, Toyota keys, and clothing used during robberies such as gloves and balaclavas.

Police also seized the Toyota Fortuner allegedly used in several business robberies. A stolen Toyota Tazz linked to a Mogwase robbery was recovered abandoned at Smashblock sports ground with its number plates removed.

Investigations are ongoing, and more arrests have not been ruled out.
