Former Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sani, has taken a swipe at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for appealing to U.S. President Donald Trump to help safeguard Nigeria’s democracy.
Sani reacted on Tuesday through a post on his verified X account, following the PDP’s public plea to the American president.
Earlier reports indicated that the newly elected PDP National Chairman, Taminu Turaki, had urged President Trump to step in and “save” Nigeria’s democracy.
Commenting on the development, Sani wrote:
“The new PDP chairman is reportedly seeking Trump’s assistance. Is it to help them reclaim the party secretariat or to help them capture someone?”
This comes as Sani has consistently voiced opposition to any form of foreign military involvement in Nigeria, especially after Trump issued a warning over alleged Christian persecution in the country.
